International Fellowship Awards
Travel award for UK trainee neurosurgeons
Deadline to apply 1st April and 1st October each year
Two (£2000) bursaries are available for UK and Eire trainees who are members of the SBNS and have been continuously for at least 2 years. The bursaries are for travel abroad for fellowships of at least 6 weeks duration and will be awarded annually, based on merit.
Applicants may apply for either this fellowship or the Alan and Diana Karter fellowship but not both.
Application is via the SBNS administrator and will be considered by SBNS Officers.
Applications will require:
1. A one-page statement from the candidate.
2. A short cv
3. Other confirmed sources of funding.
All documents must be placed together in ONE document and sent to:

Successful applicants will be required to provide a report on completion of the fellowship.
Alan and Diana Karter Global Neurosurgery Travel Awards
Deadline to apply is 1st April and 1st October each year.
The Alan and Diana Karter Fund awards are designed to support three month training visits to low income or low middle income countries and are awarded to members of the SBNS who have been members for at least 2 years, are in good standing and hold a national training number.
Applicants must be at least ST3 level, in a run through training post and with a national training number in either UK or Ireland. Successful applicants will normally be in phase 2 (ST3 – ST7), but more senior applicants may be considered at the discretion of the committee. Successful applicants will be awarded a grant of up to £10,000, the value of which is at the discretion of the SBNS global neurological surgery committee.
Applicants may apply for either this fellowship or the International Fellowship award but not both.
