VENUE AND HOSTS

The SBNS Spring Meeting, 16-19 April 2024,  will be hosted by SBNS Colleagues at the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The event will be held in the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), which is located in the heart of Edinburgh city and has excellent conference and exhibition facilities. It also has great transport links from all over the UK and abroad.

The SBNS Meetings Committee will be working closely with the Hosts to make this an informative and enjoyable meeting.  We are also very pleased to announce that the Societa Italiana di Neurochirurgia (SINcH) will be joining the meeting as our invited guests.  Their President, Prof Maurizio Fornari, will be delivering one of the eponymous lectures and several of their senior members have already agreed to give plenary talks.  Their members have also been invited to attend and participate in the programme and we look forward to a good exchange of knowledge and experiences.

The British Neurovascular Group (BNVG) will also be joining the meeting and hosting a one day meeting on Tuesday 16 April prior to the start of the Main SBNS Meeting.  All are welcome to attend.  More details and an agenda will be posted on the Sub-Speciality tab in January.   Vascular Neurosurgery will also be the topic of the Life Long Learning Session on Wednesday morning, 17 April.

The Main Meeting, commences on Wednesday afternoon and will include Eponymous Lectures, a Hot Topics Session, Breakfast Seminars, plenary talks from experts in their field, free paper/poster sessions on numerous neurosurgical topics and much more!  Please check the Academic Programme tab in the lead up to the meeting for regular updates.  We hope to have the preliminary programme available on this page by the end of January once the abstracts have been selected.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Abstracts are welcome on all neurosurgery related topics from the neurosurgical community at all levels, UK and International.  We would especially like to receive submissions from our invited guests from SINcH.

The abstract submission line is now open – click on the Abstract Submission tab on the side menu to submit.  The line will close on 12 December 2023 at midnight.   Notification of acceptance will be via email to the presenting author by mid January.

SOCIAL EVENTS

To complement the academic programme we have some wonderful social events planned.  On the evening of Wednesday 17 April there will be a Welcome Reception at Dynamic Earth , a world class science centre. It will be a great opportunity to network and catch up with friends and colleagues.

The more formal Gala dinner will be held at the National Museum of Scotland, which is situated in the heart of Edinburgh’s old town.  Members will be wowed by the contrast between the museum’s classical exterior architecture and the contrasting interior. The ticket price includes a 3 course meal, drinks and traditional Scottish entertainment.

Dress code is Black Tie/National Costume and Honorary Awards.  Don’t be shy, wear them and be proud!   Please click on the Social Events tab for more details.  Please book early as this will be a popular event and places are limited.

REGISTRATION

The registration line will open in January 2024 – the early bird rate will apply until the 10 April. The lines will close at 3pm. After that date onsite rates will apply.  Please click on the Registration tab to register.
