The RCS, together with the specialty associations, has launched a National Surgical Fellowship Scheme in early 2012 with primary goal to provide skills not available to trainees during their pre-CCT training.
The scheme is formally supported by the RCS accreditation portal. It will require trusts and other organisations to register their fellowship opportunities on the portal so that the necessary quality assurance process can be applied to maintain and indeed raise the standards and ensure uniformity.
Provided the posts fulfil certain criteria they will be badged as RCS/specialty association fellowships and trainees will thus have confidence that the posts will provide them with the training they require.
Spinefellowships is a new web based resource that provides up to date information of spine fellowship
programmes and clinical visit opportunities available in the world.
It is provided for surgical centres to promote their fellowships and for trainee spine surgeons to identify
where fellowship programmes exist.
It is provided free of charge on behalf of the British Association of Spine Surgeons (BASS).
Please note BASS has made no assessment of these fellowships and are not inferring that they meet any standards
by appearing on the website.
Please feel free to browse the site and register to add fellowships or clinical visitation programmes.
There is a delay of a day or two before added programmes are published whilst added material is checked for spam.
