Ebrain is the world's largest, most comprehensive web-based training resource in clinical neuroscience. The content has been developed in collaboration by the neuroscience speciality associations including the SBNS. The project is owned by the Joint Neurosciences Council of which the SBNS is a member.
There are over 550 twenty minute e-learning sessions that have been written by 700+ contributing clinicians drawn from all areas of the neurosciences, both in the UK and across Europe. The multimedia-rich, engaging materials are designed to enhance traditional learning, support existing teaching methods and provide a valuable reference point that is accessible online anytime, anywhere.
e-brain access is free to all members of the SBNS. To obtain a password you should contact the SBNS administration team.
Annual in-training mock exam in Neurosurgery
After a successful first run last year we are conducting this mock exam again through ebrain. The exam will open 8am Friday 15th May and close midnight on Sunday 17th May. While this is aimed at trainees, anyone can participate - you will have 2.5 hours from the time you start. We expect that nearly all trainees will do the exam but it would be good to have a large number of trainers doing it too!
1. This is FORMATIVE and for self assessment only.
2. Participation will require that you have an ebrain account - this is free to members of the SBNS. There is no charge for doing the exam.
3. To participate you must first write two questions that we will use for the exam next year
4. You can do this anywhere with an internet connection - last year at least one person did it on the train and another in ski boots!
Last year we had about 45 participants - it would be good to have many more this year. Hopefully within a few years many of us will be doing it routinely.
