Surgical Fellowships
The RCS, together with the specialty associations, has launched a National Surgical Fellowship Scheme in early 2012 with the primary goal of providing skills not available to trainees during pre-CCT training.
The scheme is formally supported by the RCS accreditation portal. It will require trusts and other organisations to register their fellowship opportunities on the portal so that the necessary quality assurance process can be applied to maintain and indeed raise the standards and ensure uniformity.
Provided the posts fulfil certain criteria they will be badged as RCS/specialty association fellowships and trainees will thus have confidence that the posts will provide them with the training they require.
