Aesculap Prize

A prize of € 5000 is offered by the AESCULAP Company and awarded annually by the European Association of Neurological Societies (EANS). The prize will be presented during the EANS Winter Meeting of 2006 in Luxembourg, and the winner will be invited to attend and to present his or her work at that meeting.

Those eligible for the prize are neurosurgeons under the age of 40 at the time of submission of their manuscript, who are either fully trained or still in the course of their training. Applicants must be members of one of the national societies of the EANS or working in one of the member countries of the EANS. The manuscripts submitted should contain research work − clinical, experimental, or both − relevant to the field of neuroscience.

The author should also make a declaration stating that she or he has performed most (more than 50%) of the work, and that such work was made mainly in Europe. A letter to this effect from the candidate’s head of department should also be attached.  Manuscripts that have been submitted for publication during the same calendar year as well as unpublished studies are accepted for evaluation. The format and type of manuscript must be comparable to those presented for publication in Acta Neurochirurgica. The applicant must send either 11 paper copies of the submitted manuscript or a CD-Rom with 1 paper copy together with a brief Curriculum Vitae before October 31st, 2005 to the chairman of the EANS Research Committee:
